Pretty much all of the shops you need will be located along Merle Hay Road including Hy-Vee and Dahl’s Foods stores where you can pick up groceries. There is a Big Lots store for odds and ends, hair cutters, a hobby shop, dry cleaners and banks. The Merle Hay Mall has nearly 100 shops for you to browse. Around the corner from Winwood there is a Casey’s General Store where you can grab a quick meal of pizza or sandwiches. One popular dining spot in this area is Cactus Bob’s BBQ Coral dishing out lip smacking eats such as St. Louis spare ribs, smoked turkey, and a brisket cheesesteak.

Recreation

This place is a bike riders dream with a massive trail system that stretches around the community and past Beaver Creek. For some quiet time, get up to the Johnston Public Library to check out a few good books. A few minutes south of the Winwood apartments you can reach both an indoor skating center and bowling lanes.
