Here is a spot close to the University of North Carolina that is perfect for faculty and staff. Students may also find the Alta Springs apartments a good location, but you won’t be walking to many classes from here. It will only take a few minutes to reach downtown from here and you can also get to I-40 with ease for commuting out of the city.
This property is located right outside of Chapel Hill, NC southeast of the city. The community has a nice buffer of tall trees and is situated in a country setting with no sidewalks and few shops nearby.
It will likely take you a full 10 minutes to walk the half mile to the Chapel Hill Transit bus stop on Finley Forest Drive. When you get there you can take the Sr-g line around the area. A better option here is to have a car which you can use to quickly get to Raleigh Road for trips downtown or to I-40.
A Harris Teeter grocery market can be found on West Barbee Chapel Road 1.2 miles away, a decent trip when you need to go food shopping. 3.5 miles from here you can reach the Streets at Southpoint mall, home to 150 stores and services, a food court and movie cinemas. Near the mall there is a Target store will lots of great home goods.
A night out for dinner can be special at Off Meadowmont Lane, Brixx Wood Fired Pizza or One Restaurant, a few of the local favorites close to Alta Springs in addition to burgers, subs and sushi.
As you continue down Raleigh Road towards the center of Chapel Hill you will find even more options.
While living here be sure to check out the display gardens at the North Carolina Botanical Garden which has many natural areas open to the public. You might enjoy taking in an occasional show at the Playmakers Repertory Company. If you have kids they will enjoy regular visits to the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center.
Sports & Fitness
Sports fans will want to watch the NC Tarheels play basketball at the Dean D Smith Center located 3.2 miles from this site. The Eagles Spur Rail Trail entrance is close by and offers a perfect spot for off road running.
