This area is great for anyone who wants to get away from the city but stay within a short commute. You can ride down Lawndale Drive to reach the hospitals, university and downtown areas or use public transportation steps away.

You can expect lots of shade trees covering the road as you approach these apartments that surround a small pond in northern Greensboro.

Transportation

You can certainly plan to use public transportation to get around here with a Ride GTA bus stop only a short two minute walk down Cottage Place and sidewalks the whole way. If you are planning to drive, you can take Lawndale Drive to the downtown area in about 10-12 minutes.

Shopping

Residents of Mallard Lakes are lucky to have a Food Lion supermarket close by to gather groceries as there are not many other shops in this neighborhood. But a short ride down Cottage Place to Battleground Avenue and you will find lots of retailers including big names like Wal-Mart Supercenter, Kohl’s and Home Depot.

Dining

With the exception of seafood and Chinese restaurants, there are not many other choices for dining out in the neighborhood. If you drive over to Battleground Avenue, which will only take a couple of minutes, there are lots of options including pizza, Subway, Monterrey Mexican and a popular burger spot.

Recreation

For families, the Greensboro Science Center will offer many opportunities to spend time including visiting exhibits on snakes and dinosaurs, special events and show in the Omni Sphere 3-D Dome. The Country Park also provides space for young and old to stretch their legs and run around. Of course you can also stay home and splash around in one of the two onsite swimming pools and avoid the heat on hot summer days.
