Rentals Online researchers have uncovered this neighborhood for you…
Zip down 8th Street NE and you can reach Lenoir-Rhyne University in minutes. Or, residents of Laurel Forest can cut over to downtown and the Frye Regional Medical Center. With two and three bedroom apartments available, and a large rec center down the street, this can be a great spot for families.
Location
Look for this community on 8th Street on the north east side of the city. This neighborhood is mostly residential and includes the Highland Recreation Center.
Transportation
You won’t be able to walk to public transportation from here so plan to have a car to get around. 8th Street is a main roadway that will lead you to the downtown area or major highways such as I-40 and US 70.
Shopping & Dining
Living here you can find a Lowes Foods store on 14th Ave, several minutes west. From this site you can breeze down to US Highway 70 where there is a huge shopping area that includes the Valley Hills Mall, Target, Kohl’s and many more shops. There are not a lot of dining spots in the immediate neighborhood, but all you need to do is drive over to 2nd Street to find a nice variety of restaurants that serve everything from pizza to Moroccan Chicken.
Recreation
The rec center includes baseball fields, basketball courts, playground and a skate park. Stop in downtown to see a movie at Carolina Theaters or check out some exhibits at the Hickory Museum of Art.
