Neighborhood

Do you want to live real close to downtown Harrisburg but avoid some of the congestion and the cost?

Then you will want to learn what we found out about the Ivy Ridge Apartments and Townhomes.

For starters, the Ivy Ridge Apartments in Harrisburg, PA offers a strategic location just a snap from downtown. It could take you less time to get to work from here than other spots right in the downtown area. Paxton Street provides a direct path that bypasses the busy highways.

So getting to Pinnacle Health for example is a breeze.

There are some communities that are a tiny bit closer to the river area such as Park Run Apartments. But this address is more secluded. You can live up on a hill with a panoramic view and have park-space next door.

Plus these are newer apartments. And while you might not get all the bells and whistles some would expect, modern styling and less frequent maintenance issues offers a lot in terms of quality of life.

5 revelations about these Harrisburg Apartments

  1. Suburban lifestyle with city convenience

It’s almost hard to believe that you can drive down to the Susquehanna River in about 8 minutes.

Ivy Ridge is isolated with a huge section of woods and a community park. There are no highways in your backyard. But there are other residential homes.

  1. Stunningly close for those who work in retail

While seemingly tucked away from civilization, the Harrisburg Mall is only a brief ride around the corner. This center has more than 90 shops including Macy’s and Bass Pro Shops.

  1. Capital Area Greenbelt around the corner

For exercise enthusiasts, you can certainly go for a nice jog around the paths in the community. But for more of an adventure, hop on your mountain bike and go for a ride along the Greenbelt Trial. This is a feature you won’t find at many other apartments in Harrisburg. You can connect with segments of the trail to get all the way to the river.

  1. Direct path to Capital Blue Cross

A major draw to the Ivy Ridge Apartments is that you can hop on several major thoroughfares to get around the region quickly. We spell this out in detail below. Residents can take a leisurely drive up S Progress Ave to Capital Blue Cross, one of Harrisburg’s largest employers. According to Google Maps this should take between 12-16 minutes to drive (see more commute times below).

  1. Quick access to Camp Hill and Hershey

It will take almost the same amount of time to reach Camp Hill, or the Hershey Medical Center.

4 important places that you will find within walking distance of this address

We’ll be honest Ivy Ridge is not the most walkable neighborhood. They have done a great job installing sidewalks throughout the community so if you are just looking to go for a stroll or get some fresh air, no problem.

But once you get out to the main roadway, the sidewalks end. It is really only a short distance to N Harrisburg Street which has a wide shoulder. So if you are determined, there are some rewards for leaving your car at home.

  1. The first place we want to highlight is Ivy Ridge Park. This recreation area is no great shakes but it does have a playground that would be fantastic for kids to get outdoors. There are also several soccer fields where you can kick a ball around.
  1. Planet Fitness is right around the corner for those who find the gym at Ivy Ridge Harrisburg to be inadequate.
  1. There is a Sheetz Market nearby where you can grab cup of coffee, snacks or a made-to-order sandwich any time of the day or night.
  1. Having the Harrisburg Mall within one mile opens up lots of possibilities. A family member could get a part time job or you can be a regular at the nail salon.

You can also reach a few hotels, a bank and Toys R Us while on foot.
