This attractive community is positioned just off Orange Avenue (US 220) enabling residents to commute to downtown Roanoke with ease. There is a Valley Metro Transit bus stop near the front entrance of Hickory Woods to help those without a car get around the city. You can reach the airport in about 15 minutes from here and a trip to Salem will take about 20 minutes. There are a bunch of small grocery markets nearby but the Wal-Mart Super center near the Valley View Mall will have everything you need to prepare your own meals. When you feel like dining out there is a good mix of local restaurants and fast food places along US 220 that should meet your needs. Café Asia and Jimmy John’s are two of the local favorites in this area. While living here you can enjoy watching movies at the 16-theater Regal Cinemas Theater near the mall. There are regular events hosted at the Roanoke Civic Center near I-581, so be sure to check the schedule on a regular basis. You won’t want to miss taking a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway for scenic views of the Virginia countryside.
