The Nieuw Amsterdam Village Apartments in Old Bridge, NJ is a convenient spot for commuters who can head up US 9 to the parkway and Woodbridge or south towards Freehold. Residents can walk to an ample shopping area for food, clothes and home goods. These apartments are pretty old and have some issues but are considered a good deal for the space and location.

LOCATION

Very convenient address – one of the big advantages of Nieu Amsterdam Village is that it is located directly off of US 9 saving lots of time for commuters heading north up the GSP. You will find plenty of shops and restaurants practically outside your door such as Kohl’s, Wal-Mart and TGI Friday’s.

The South Amboy train station is just over 4 miles from this address in case you plan to travel to New York.  

Tip: a 7-Eleven is a few steps awat if you need a place for coffee on the go.

CONVENIENCES

Laundry facilities onsite – similar to most of the other rental communities in this area, there is no in-home washer & dryer option.  

Some of the apartments here have been renovated with updated kitchens and features.

PETS

Pets welcome – this place is very pet friendly with low fees and rent although you will want to inquire about restrictions.

There is a Petco store up the street where you can gather any supplies needed.

Note: some residents have reported fleas on their pet after moving here.

LEISURE          

Some activities– there are outdoor barbeque grills and a pool at Nieuw Amsterdam Village but we believe you need to pay extra to use it.  

This property is not far from a farmers market down the street and the Sayreville Free Public Library on Washington Road. In the vicinity you can find playhouse theater and a large sports park with athletic courts and trails.

One comment that came up repeatedly was that the apartments were excessively hot all the time. You may need to keep your air condition on longer than normal to even things out.

Several reviews pointed out that there were frequent homeless cats and other animals that may be the cause of fleas on some pets. Other mentions include dog droppings and insufficient laundry machines.
