Las Cruces Apartments for Rent

About Las Cruces

If you want to live in a warm climate with gorgeous mountain views and lots of entertainment options, then consider renting an apartment in Las Cruces New Mexico. This city of about 100,000 residents is the second largest in the state, thanks in part to a growing population of students and a stable economy with lots of government jobs. The Rio Grande supplies irrigation water for agriculture and helps produce what is said to be the world’s best chili peppers.

Finding your way around Las Cruces should not be too hard. Just look east and you will see the Organ Mountains jetting into the sky which will guide you in the right direction. New Mexico State University, with approximately 16,000 students is located near the south of the city between the intersection of I-10 and I-25. You will also find Dona Ana Community College which educates more than 4,000 students and the Memorial Medical Center in this area. The historic downtown section can be found in the middle of Las Cruces and is more of a cultural destination than a major business district. Here you will find shops and restaurants along with the Rio Grande Theatre and the Black Box Theatre offering an enjoyable afternoon away from your Las Cruces apartment. You may also encounter a regular farmers market, museums, art galleries and government offices in this area. On the east side of the city across I-10, you will find a large shopping mall with a movie cinema along with a variety of other shops and restaurants in the area. This is also where you can find the MountainView Regional Medical Center, the largest hospital in the region.

Commuting Many residents in the area work at the White Sands Missile Range and White Sands Test Facility, two military installations several miles east of the city that can be accessed via Route 70. The city operates RoadRUNNER Transit, a bus service that helps residents get around to fixed locations. However, for longer distance travel, you will have to head to El Paso, about 47 miles away to reach the nearest International Airport with commercial flights. To get there, just head southeast from your apartment on Interstate 10.
