Greater than 60,000 students attend the state’s largest higher learning institutions including Mississippi State University, University of Mississippi and The University of Southern Mississippi.
In addition to Nissan North America, some of the Mississippi’s largest employers are in the casino and gaming industry. Well known as a tourist destination for riverboat gambling, the state is home to several resorts such as Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Grand Biloxi Casino Hotel Spa and the Hollywood Casino Bay St. Louis. There are many other hotels, resorts and gaming spots throughout the state.
If you are looking for something to do in your free time, head out of your apartment to the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science in Jackson where you can check out their 100,000-gallon aquarium with many native species. If you are headed to Biloxi, start with a trip to the Visitors Center to learn all about this area. Enjoy lunch or dinner at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and take a boat ride to Ship Island to explore the beaches.
A few other spots we think you might enjoy include touring the unique Longwood Civil War era Mansion in Natchez, viewing many animals at the Hattiesburg Zoo and visiting the Elvis Presley Birthplace & Museum in Tupelo.
