Tacoma is situated between the Olympic National Forest and Mt Rainier National Park at the bottom of the Puget Sound about 34 miles south of Seattle. The city is nestled on the waterfront of Commencement Bay. Sound Transit and Pierce Transit operates train and bus service in the area and Amtrak is available for longer destinations.
