With a location just off US Highway 70, Oakwood Apartments is a great spot for renters commuting to Hickory. You will be able to get right on the highway and reach the city in less than fifteen minutes. Along the way you will pass the Catawba Valley Medical Center, the community college and several large companies such as Com Scope and Century Furniture. This community is within a few minutes of a major shopping district where you can get all the goods and services you may need for your new place.

Location

Look for Oakwood off Boundary Street. The neighborhood includes several eateries, a car wash & oil change shop, and a convenience store.

Transportation

Although there are several bus stops around Hickory, you won’t likely be able to walk to one from this location. Renters with a car can access US 70 from Boundary Street.

Shopping & Dining

Just around the corner from here there is a small retail center with a Big Lots store, pizza and a few fast food places. There are several other dining spots available to residents here such as Mexican food, Subway sandwiches and Asian cuisine. If you take a short drive west of here you can quickly reach a Wal-Mart Supercenter and Sam’s Club, or continue to the Valley Hills Mall for a more extensive shopping excursion. The area also has other big name shops such as Kohl’s, Toys R Us and Dick’s Sporting Goods.

Recreation

Spend a night watching auto racing at the Hickory Motor Speedway. If you would rather glide around on your own wheels, there is a skating center only a few minutes away. Residents will find a 14-screen movie cinema at the mall. Kids might enjoy the science center in downtown Hickory.
